Sige translates to ‘silence’ and was a Gnostic figure pictured as a hooded woman with her finger blocking her lips. She is said to be the primordial female power of creation, for out of Silence came the first creative word. Hsiung relates this to how she feels in the presence of waterfalls; silent, present while the knowledges of rushing water, air, earth, plants and creatures are shared with her.
